Hey is anyone gonna port kagestu tohya or fate/hollow Axtaria?

Cheers

KT`s flowchart makes me cry. so no.

and I was unaware FHA was even translated.

3 Name: Anonymous : 2008-08-30 19:26 ID:b3WViAhB [Del]

haha fair enough and FHA is being translated last time i checked but not by the same people who are doing FSN

4 Name: anon : 2008-09-01 20:47 ID:mzjlrYBX [Del]

For the mean time, just read the translation from Beasts' Lair. I hope there's one vnds for KT too though...

I am currently porting the sidestories (ten nights of dream)
to VNDS.

I know it's not that much, but hey:
It's my first time trying to work with VNDS :P :P

Flowers of Thanatos, fuck yeah! And how is working with VNDS? If its easy enough, I'll try porting over Resonance or something else Insani did.

7 Name: Daniel : 2008-12-24 10:24 ID:XDw+p3Os [Del]

Yes it's pretty easy, just need to get the hang of it and have all the right tools.
I am using:

Geany text editor for scripting
Tsukihime & Kagetsu Tohya libs for images and bg's
Batch Image Resizer for resizing to NDS format
And a batch script to cut images in half, since images straight from the Kagetsu Tohya lib have a black shadow next to them.

Also: Supercard MiniSD (2gb) is the card I use

>>since images straight from the Kagetsu Tohya lib have a black shadow next to them.

yeah, that black shadow is their alpha channel info. you're supposed to apply it to the sprite on the left to make it have a transparent background and the antialiased pixels on the edges.

9 Name: Daniel : 2008-12-29 08:10 ID:MffHq2fK [Del]

Hm does it matter that much??
Since then I would have to go through alot more trouble then just cutting them in half and making the bg transparent with PS.

10 Name: Anonymous : 2008-12-30 14:05 ID:f/EVLqj2 [Del]

well they look better with alpha channels. you could probably replace some of them with the already existing ones from tsukihime and just fill in the blanks like len.

it also takes less time to just apply it than try to clean it up by hand, removing all the stray white pixels and outlines you get when you try to fix them by hand.

not to mention the originals are jpg, so there are all those artifacts and stuff on the blurry edges.

Good luck with translating KT!

Faults are dangerous on 'A Day' part, since they're like repetitions.

>>12
kt's already fully translated though.

14 Name: Daniel : 2009-01-02 13:02 ID:MffHq2fK [Del]

I'm not translating, I'm porting.
And not proting full KT, just the sidestories, since this is my first time trying to create something for VNDS and I don't want to start on something as complicated as KT.

Btw sidestories are going fine!!

15 Name: Anonymous : 2009-01-31 07:21 ID:fdR037k0 [Del]

Guh! mistyped 'translating'
^^;

Anyways, don't forget the secret scenario 'Yoiyumetsuki'! It's a definite favorite! :D

Good luck anyways!

Excuse me, Daniel, but is the sidestory porting nearly complete?

17 Name: Anonymous : 2009-05-23 18:32 ID:3E5uphjC [Del]

anoNL, I'm sorry to ask you directly.
Would you mind sharing the method you converted the bmps to alpha channel pngs?
Please feel free to talk geekish to me, if you have to.

Thanks!

Ok, seems like I got it on my own.
Not worth mentioning.

Pardon me, but is there a download for the process that has been made so far? Even if it is incomplete, I'd very much like to try it out. I'm sure that I speak for a lot of people as well. Thank you.

Thank you very much for your great website

Soooo.....

Would I be stepping on anybody's toes if I took up this project? Now mind you, I'm not promising to do it with this post, I'm just asking if I would be upsetting anybody if I did, since it's already technically in progress. And it definately wouldn't be happening around the holidays. I don't need the source files, as I have the game and nsaout.exe. If they could be provided that would of course save me time, and I would mention that in the credits -- but if I have to start from scratch well...then I'm going to consider it an entirely new project (which is fine, I'm just saying that's how I'll treat it).

I'd just really like to see this done, and since I know how to do it now, well...you see where I'm going.

What I'd be interested in doing is porting Ten Nights of Dream, and the other "extras" from Kagetsu Tohya -- namely the five mini festival stories, and the hidden "true" ending bit with evil SHIKI and Satsuki. I would NOT be porting Kagetsu Tohya itself (too much of a flowchart nightmare).

Soooo...how does that sit with everybody?

None of us really mind.

28 Name: Anonymous : 2010-12-09 21:52 ID:8iGiv4Ps [Del]

way to halfass it

Hmm, well...I didn't think anybody would really mind that much, but I thought it only polite to ask first, since it was already started. It all depends on what time becomes available after the holidays. It would be nice to see a project like this completed in my opinion, is all.

Well...I'm sorry if you think that's halfassed, anon, but I'm not going to port the main story of Kagetsu Tohya. It's no worries or anything, but if enough people agree with you then so be it...I don't want to take the time to port something nobody wants. I'd like to help out the VNDS project in any way I can, and since doing it this way was already announced, I figured I'd just take up the torch.

Of course, if anybody out there wants to port the entire thing, including the main story, I'd be fine with that. It's just that the main story of Kagetsu Tohya, while still enjoyable, is a nightmare of convoluted choicepoints and flowcharts. I'll be honest when I say that I just plain don't have the time or the drive, to decipher all of that. S'why I appreciate the people who took the time to port huge stories like FSN and Tsukihime, because I know I'd never be able to get anywhere with such a massive undertaking.

The stories in Ten Nights of Dream are largely independant of the main storyline, so they'd still be able to stand by themselves either way.

31 Name: CXBlackCatXD : 2010-12-10 09:49 ID:C3C4gijY [Del]

Well, I'd say most of us are fine anyways...at least then you could always post up your work and have someone else work on it even if you give up (eventually it will get there maybe xD).

32 Name: Gaidai : 2010-12-10 11:48 ID:4ETeG9sq [Del]

Yeah, good point. If I were to finish this, I'd hardly complain if somebody added the main story onto it after the fact. I'll look into it. I'm glad there's some interest, at least :)

33 Name: Alex : 2011-02-16 11:24 ID:/bhIpCSC [Del]

Gaidai, you are honestly a god for doing this. Thank you very much!

34 Name: Char : 2011-03-20 04:05 ID:cChQ5PWS [Del]

Yes, please! When any releasable progress has been made, please let us know! I would love this so very much! Thank you!

35 Name: Gaidai : 2011-04-17 13:48 ID:cghC6zI8 [Del]

Um, wow...I guess it’s okay for me to go ahead and do it then, heh. Alright, I’ll see about it. I admit I haven’t had the time to make any progress at all on it since my last thread post, but I’ll nab the source files and give it a look. For some reason the only thing I have never had any luck with is adding voice bites into anything I work on. Since Kagetsu has none, that shouldn’t be a problem. I’ll keep everybody posted :)

36 Name: Facesforce : 2011-04-17 19:39 ID:O8ojhW6/ [Del]

My advice is to buy a notebook and write every bit of code down if you are going to attack that project, Gaidai. Oh, I think the flowchart will be your friend as well. Good luck!

37 Name: Gaidai : 2011-04-17 20:04 ID:cghC6zI8 [Del]

As I mentioned above, I will only be porting Ten Nights of Dream, and the final ending sequence. No way do I have the time or resources to port all of the main story, heh. Much as I love Tsukihime, Ten Nights of Dream was enough for me. I don't think I'd want to get involved in the convoluted mess that was the main storyline for Kagetsu more than once in my life >.>;;

38 Name: Facesforce : 2011-04-17 20:36 ID:O8ojhW6/ [Del]

I can understand that. Well, the ten nights of dream are mostly liner, with maybe the exception of the flower of thantos, but still good luck. It should be fun. Yes well... The storyline is not really THAT complex, as all it does is mainly reuse scenes, that add global variables to unlock new content. Also, I beleieve it was done in either Nscripter or KiriKiri, both of which I think had a converter program used for Tsukihime and Fate/Stay night. If you could modify one of those programs, then the entire project should speed right along.

39 Name: Gaidai : 2011-04-18 15:43 ID:cghC6zI8 [Del]

Point. When you look at it like that, I suppose it's less complicated, but...I think it's the choicepoint madness and the flowchart that would drive me batty. Even if that weren't the case, porting the main body would take me forever, with the amount of time I have to spend on it. I'd at least like to get Ten Nights of Dream done so that people have a usable port to enjoy. Plus....Honestly those stories were my favorite part of the game. They're linear so the should be relatively easy to do, just a question of time to work on them. But I'd still like to do it, so I'll see what I can hash out.

40 Name: Gaidai : 2011-08-02 11:00 ID:4ETeG9sq [Del]

I thought it only fair to pop on and mention that I haven't forgotten about this project. Life is...life, I guess. Haven't really gotten anywhere with it yet, but haven't forgotten it.

I don't remember for certain which forground sprites wouldn't be needed for Ten Nights of Dream, so...I guess I'll have to convert them all, one at a time @_@
